Exam Preparation & Technique

  • Attachment: Ensure the stethoscope adapter is firmly connected to the TytoCare base unit.
  • Placement: Position the stethoscope on the left side of the chest (over the apex of the heart) for the strongest signal.
  • Patient State: For an accurate resting heart rate, the patient should be sitting quietly and should not have engaged in vigorous activity immediately prior to the exam.
  • Measurement: The device will analyze the heart sounds and display the calculated heart rate in beats per minute (BPM) on the screen.

Pro Tip: If the heart rate is difficult to capture, ensure the diaphragm is in direct contact with the skin and that the patient is holding their breath for a few seconds to reduce lung sound interference.
